Shenandoah Caverns
Anyone who has traveled along I-81 near New Market VA has probably seen the peculiar large pixie that beckons visitors from the interstate to Shenandoah Caverns, one of the world’s most unique underground attractions! For over 80 years, since 1922, visitors have been able to tour Shenandoah Cavern's unique cavern system and see its incredible natural formations and extraordinary geology. Large formations like the “Breakfast Bacon”, “Diamond Cascade”, “Capital Dome” and cavern features like the Long View Hall and Rainbow Lake were featured in past issues of National Geographic and are still admired today by visitors touring the Shenandoah Caverns. Located right off of I-81 at Exit 269, Shenandoah Caverns can be toured in about one hour, and it is almost 80% wheelchair and stroller accessible. In fact, Shenandoah Caverns is the only Caverns in Virginia that has its own elevator service.

Skyline Caverns
Located at the northern end of the Virginia Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park is another VA Caverns attraction, the Skyline Caverns. The Skyline Caverns is the only set of Virginia Caverns and one of only a few in the world where visitors can see anthodite formations. Anthodites are aptly called the “Orchids of the Mineral Kingdom” as they form and grow upwards, defying gravity. Their unique white spikes grow in all directions, however, their growth rate is exceptionally slow, about one inch every seven thousand years! Geologists are still baffled by their unique growth pattern, thus adding to the allure of Skyline Caverns.
Tour the Skyline Caverns and bask in the splendors of nature! On your tour you will get to see formations such as “The Painted Desert”, “The Wishing Well”, “The Grotto of Nativity”, “The Shrine”, Cathedral Hall, a 37 foot Rainbow Waterfall, and the magical Fairyland Lake.

Luray Caverns
It was just a bit of cold air that blew out Andrew Campbell's candle as he walked by a limestone sinkhole near a hill west of Luray Virginia. The year was 1878 and Campbell, his associates and his 13 year old nephew were exploring the area in the morning hours, looking for a cave. After seeing the cold air blow out his candle, the men dug away the rocks in the hole for more than 4 hours. After clearing the hole, Campbell and his men unmasked a natural wonder that even they could hardly believe. With a rope extended, Campbell made his way deep into the cave and discovered one of our nation's most beautiful natural attractions, Luray Caverns.
Today, visitors can tour the stunning natural formations of the Virginia Luray Caverns. Guided tours depart approximately every 10 to 20 minutes throughout the day. Each tour lasts about an hour in length. Stay in our Luray Caverns Cabins with Hot Tubs and get ready to discover the largest and most popular caverns in the eastern United States! A noted US Natural Landmark, the Virginia Luray Caverns are renowned for their cathedral sized 'rooms', some even with ceilings as high as 10 stories! When you tour the Virginia Luray Caverns, you will see the gigantic stone columns that are still naturally forming and look out across the crystal clear pools of water. Also, you will be both haunted and delighted to hear the unique sounds that flow from the world's only Stalacpipe Organ which rises from the stalactite formations that cover more than 3 full acres!
